The ESS photo archive is available online at https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vToCzgboIq3ejIK-orwpxuKoafTdGQPFdCVBN8ec99JWdNR4I8gyx4cq5fMZf88nKughnx9SvLjvQap/pub. The images are free to view only and commercial use is not permitted because the ESS does not normally own the copyright. The late Chris Jennings and Alan Robinson did valuable work scanning the extensive photo collection. The first photographs to be published online belonged to the Allan Sommerfield collection. The Chris Bush collection was added in late 2017.
The Editor of LINK holds a collection of some 2,000 maps of most of the steam engine shed sites as well as those of diesel, electric and Departmental Depots. Photocopies can be supplied to members on request.
As well as a major photographic and cartographic collection, the ESS archive includes other maps, shed logs, track plans of LMS sheds, donated books and members' albums of shed sites.
Further corrections to the photograph captions will be added in due course. The ESS Archivist can be contacted at: stephenwolstenholme@talk21.com
